Pool gate compliance is not optional. The gate is the most common point of failure in a pool barrier, and the requirements are strict for good reason. We manufacture pool gates and supply the hardware to get it right.
Pool gates must comply with AS 1926.1 and AS 1926.2. Here is what that means in practice:
Self-closing — the gate must close automatically from any open position. No propping open, no relying on someone to shut it.
Self-latching — the latch must engage automatically when the gate closes. It must sit at least 1500mm from the ground, or be shielded so a child cannot reach it from outside.
Minimum 1200mm height — consistent with the pool barrier.
Opens outward — away from the pool area, every time.
No climbable features — nothing on the outside face that could act as a foothold. No horizontal rails, no decorative elements a child could grip.
Maximum 100mm gap — at the bottom of the gate and between the gate and its post.

Magna-Latch
The industry standard for pool gate latching. Magnetic, self-latching, and key-lockable. Meets Australian pool fencing standards and positioned at the correct height for compliance.
D-Latch (keyed)
A keyed latch option for pool gates. Self-latching with a key lock for added security.
